Seventh PAsuram -EDu (vandaruli)

In the preceding pAsuram AzvAr requested EmperumAn for His grace (note 1) EmperumAn did not grant this. AzvAr was worried that He had rejected the request and now appeals that He should not remove Him from His  grace.
 
During pushpa yAgam Sri Bhattar  will listen to ThiruvAimozhi chanting by Sri NanjEyar. Once during summer, when water was sprinkled on the divine street, Sri Bhattar asked Sri NanjEyar to chant this pAsuram and after having immersed himself in this pasuram, he also chanted. The Lord who is to be medidated through Yogic procedures, and those minds which are rigid like draught hit fields, melt with such watery words blessed by philanthrophists who have given these. (note 2) Sri NanjEyar used to quote this everytime when chanting this pAsuram.
 
 
vandharuLi- Though not desired the EmperumAn has graced by coming. Two entities of different places join. He being the Suprme ONe of Paramapadham and AzvAr being in samsAram are in fact mixing. In fact, AzvAr had to go to the superior force. At least did they meet at half way.
VandharuLi- This grace is expressed-melting the mind. Sri AppAn ThiruvazhundhUr araiyar taking the thALam went on chanting 'vandharuLi vandharuLi' without proceeding further.
 
en nenju - the mind which was interested in things other than Him.
 
idam koNDa- (note 3) - Even if the Almighty comes, the mind will say it has got other interests.
-aham yEava - note 4
 
Thus the words 'nenjidam koNDa' indicates the merger of two chemical properties.Though being different objects, it is observed that the properties conjoin. (note 5)
 
en nenjidam koNDa vAnavar kozhundhEA-
The Lord who is in Sri vaikunTam is awaiting appropriate time to get my mind! The entity which is chief of nithya sUris is doing this for getting the mind of chief of nithya samsAri-s.
 
vulagukku Or mundhai thAi thanthai-
 
Not being two (adhvidhEyan) the Lord is the oldest father for the worlds.There, the two entities realise this but here it is only one entity realising. (note 6) The immortal father of the souls.Similar to the playthings which get destroyed in short span of time, the father of this world also perish. However, they are the divine parents immortal (note 7)
 
Sri mArkaNdEya maharishi also proclaimed this fact.
 
muzhu yEaz vulagum vuNdAi- The mother carries the offspring in the womb for ten months and expects that the child will support her at a later stage.
 
The Lord, however, rescues the AtmAs and considers it as His benefit. 
 
sen thozhilavar- Those who perform yajgnAs without any expectations.Like He performs protection they do kainkaryam. Otherwise, this becomes waste.
 
Vedha vEaLvi aRA- The sound of VEdhAs and vaidhEkic actions go on ceaselessly.
The lack of hurdles make this possible and it is akin to EmperumAn's eternal togetherness with pirATTi. If there is any benefit for partaking happiness with ones beloved can there be any benefit for this?
 
sirivaramangaLa nagar pugazhAi- This is as if there is end for auspicious quality in paramapadham and is eternal in this divya desam.
 
adiyEania agaTREAlEA - Such an auspicious quality which came from Paramapadham to this Desam should not come to an end because of the grievance that EmperumAn had disowned a person who does not have any refuge.
agatREAl-This word    spring from the person who cannot tolerate separation even for a second.
 
adiyEanai- Do you reject me because did i take refuge in anyting other than YOu
 
 
NOTES:
 
1.In the 6th pAsuram yEanamAi nilam kENDa Azvar requests for grace of EmpeurmAn -adiyEan thozha vandharuLEa.
 
2.Sri Bhattar exclaims that AzvAr are such philanthrophists/altruists to have bequeath us with such wonderful words that it enables even to melt the dry/parched land/minds.
 
3.Sri NampiLLai explains why the AzvAr uses the word 'kONDa'.That is EmperumAn takes the place in mind of AzvAr and not just comes in.
 
4.Sri Chakravarthitht Thirumagan does this towards Sri Sarabanga munivar.
 
5. Here it is explained two chemical properties conjoin and not the chemicals themselves.
 
6.In paramapadham the AtmAs realise He is the father and perform kainkaryam. In SamsAram these AtmAs do not realise and He out of this relationship supports us and that is why it is said adhvidhyean.
