Third PAsuram -EDu (garula put kodi )

garula
GaruLap puT kodi -avathArikai

EmperumAn:
AzvAr! you have appealed for Grace. Sure, there is no problem in doing so.However, as said in 'SAsthra palam prayOkthrai' and karthA sAsthrArthavathvAth', should not the recipient of such blessings also have some qualification or possess something.
AzvAr:
EmperumAn! Please grant the blessings by YOur causeless mercy. Having blessed me all along till now, further Grace should also be based on the same compassion.

pAsuram

GaruLap puT kodi- Oh Lord! Was YOur earlier grace based on my nature or your nature?
(Refer note 1)

GaruLap puT kodi-Is your greatness requires something more? The flag Being periya thiruvadi is indicative of the blessings-aruLAzhip puL iREA.

chakkarap padai- The SudharsanAzvAn is indicate of the blessings-aruLAr thiru-ch-chakkaram iREA
(Refer note 2)

vAna nADa- The Garuda-puL as 'dvajam' , The SudharsanAzvAn as the divine weapon and The paramapadham as divine abode. The riding on on the Periya Thiruvadi, The handling of the divine weapon and the abode as Parma padham are indeed the characteristics of the Supreme entity-sArvAdhikan.The uniqueness of the aformetioned three in fact make up to the complete One. -SarvaprakArapari pUrnanAi irukkirapadi
(Refer note 3)

GaruLap puL- The term 'puL' refers to pakshi-and karuLap puL to Garuda p pakshi.
Like the word 'EDEA" is spelt out as 'ELEA" the word 'gArudA' is spelt out as 'GaruLa"
(Refer note 4)

Otherwise,
GaruL is indicate of blackness that is referring to the GarudA's angry gesture against the foes.
Like in 'GaruLudaiya pozhil marudhu' (Refer note 4A)

enkAr mugil vaNNA-If you dont see the greatness in YOu, did you see the nature of the place of rainfall.Your Compassion showered on me had been done without anyting quid pro quo. What was the blessing?

poruL allAdha - the material existed earlier but now it has been made into an object. Earlier it was in a subtle, raw and rough state.(note 5)

adimaikoNDAi-
As said in 'peru makkaL vuLLavar' the Lord is being served by nithyasithar. This EmperumAn gave this kainkaraym to me.NOt just having created the object but gave food for the object ( Refer note 6) The effect of being kAr mugil.

adimai koNDAi- 'adi thozhudhu ezhu' -EmperumAn had graced AzvAr to the extent of spelling out adi thozhudhu ezhu (Refer note 6)

theruL koL nAn maRai vallavar -The inhabitants of this divyadesam are full of knowledge to the extent of interpreting the four vEdhams to their will.

palar- not one or two but like in SrevaikUntAm, groups and groups reside here.

vAzh-Since, they are possessed with the knowledge of the essence of VEdha thAthparyam, they are indeed living the real life.
the mere existence in divya desam does not decimate sins automatically due to lack of gnAnam.Unlike that, the inhabitants possess knowledge and the befitting glory.

sri varamangaLa nagarkku aruL seidhu angirundhai- Gracing the residents of that divyadesam is considered by AzvAr as his benefit.(Refer note 7) The Lord settled in Srivaramangalanagar unasked for out of volition. Further, OH! Lord You have come here to grace me.Having brought till the stage of kainkaryam, the Lord settled here to remove any obstacles which may be between AzvAr and kainkaryam

aRiyEan oru kai mAREA- Having blessed me so much, Oh! Lord, i do not see anything done on my part.
Having blessed so much till now without any cause, please continue with this, is AzvAr's plea.

Notes:
1. AzvAr argues that earlier EmperumAn had Graced without seeing the qualification. Had he done so, the grace would not have befallen. EmperumAn had in fact based the grace on His compasssion (audhAryam) which is the emphasis of AzhvAr here.

2.The ThiruvAimozhip pAsuram -ArulAZhi puL- 1-4-6 and Thiruvirutham 33-ArulAr thiruchakkaram indicates the blessing nature of these two.

3. The mention of The Lord's presence in paramapadham along with Periya Thiruvadi and sudharsanAzvAn refers to His supremacy and the blessing nature of these two indicates His sElam.

4.svAmi NampiLLai questions why does not AzvAr use the word 'gArudA' but 'garula' here.

4A. svAmi NampiLLai gives reference to pAsuram of periyazvAr thirumozhi where the word 'garuL' is used as angry appearane. That is periyazvAr thirumozhi pAsuram where the two trees yamalArunAr appear as black and wild-garuLudiaya pozhil marudhu -4-9-3

5.AzvAr mentions that he was made as an object. The soul is eternal. How does it make a logical meaning that EmpeurmAn had made him an object. Here AzvAr underscores the fact that the soul was remaining as a simple material useless but once graced by EmperumAn it has become an object which can be utilised.

6.What is the utility? kainkaryam. These are clear from the first pAsuram of ThiruvAimozhi -adi thozhudhu ezhu en mananEa-

7.What is the Grace of EmperumAn blessing the inhabitants of Srivaramangalanagar. AzvAr considers the benefit to them as his.
